It’s a race to the release party as these small indie game studios pitch, design and build an issue-focused video game in just 5 days!
Emphasizing the power of collaboration, Future Genius Beta Masters leverages a real-world production cycle for planning and developing innovative game prototypes just like the pros.
With a passion for social entrepreneurship, Beta Masters work in teams to develop video game concepts with a Global Goals focus and take them from ideation to completion. Students will push their computational learning to the next level, creating original graphics with Piskel and bringing them to life using the powerful, cloud-based game engine, Construct 3, all with one goal in mind: securing seed investments from friends and family at Friday’s beta release party!
At Future Genius, your child will learn:
- The core concepts of computer programming and video game design
- How to build a technical game design document
- Strategies for efficient collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving
- Best practices for public speaking — ability to pitch and present work
- Exploration of the Global Goals

Future Genius is a healthy combo of online learning and offline exploration. Whether it’s designing a wind turbine out of recycled materials or planting a “seed bomb” in your garden, unplugged activities are reminders that we may have to get our hands dirty to build a brighter future!
Yes! We do offer full and partial scholarships to families who may have financial hardship at home and might need tuition assistance for their child. If you are in need of some scholarship aid, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
No experience required. Activities are designed for different speeds, depths and levels of proficiency.
We aim for a student-to-instructor ratio of 6:1. Future Genius programs are managed by a Lead Instructor, who is a dedicated local educator with a passion for sustainability, technology, and future literacy. They are responsible for demonstration and guidance of camp curriculum, including digital media production, leadership training, team-building, and other problem-solving activities. Lead Instructors are assisted by inspired Junior Instructors—high school-age role models wired for igniting positive change.
Students are always welcome to bring their PCs to Future Genius. At many Future Genius locations, each camper will be provided a computer to use during the camp session. Though, at some Future Genius facilities, computers are not available and students are required to bring a laptop or Chromebook to camp.
