Thomas Bacon dreams up Young Hacks Academy tech leadership program to introduce kids to computer science through problem solving and collaboration.

Jul 2013

YHA pilots Agent Training for ages 9-12 at Colchester High School in Colchester, VT. Students create video games about critical issues impacting the local and global community.

Jul 2015

The YHA reach grows to 17 summer programs in NH & VT. 127 scholarships were awarded to YHA students.

Mar 2016

Young Hacks CORE Lab opens at the Champlain Mill in Winooski, VT. The afterschool program explores CS topics, including object-oriented programming, operating systems, and networking.

Jul 2017

Beta Masters video game design program runs in MA, ME, NH, NY & VT. Studios pitch game prototypes to seed investors, aka family and friends, at Friday’s launch party.

Jul 2018

Team Elektra all-girls program launches at Arcola Intermediate School in Eagleville, PA.

Dec 2019

After 172 STEM camps in CT, IA, MA, ME, NH, NY, PA & VT, we say goodbye to Young Hacks, and hello to Future Genius! Our new mission reimagines 21st century sustainability education and stewardship.

Apr 2020

Future Genius, Inc. is granted 501(c)(3) status. Summer catalog expands to environmental studies and political media programs.

Jul 2020

In-person camps are cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The FG team hosts 6 virtual camps on Zoom.

Jul 2021

In-person programs are back! FG forms a partnership with E-Line Media & the Endless Foundation. E-Line staff lead virtual critique sessions with Beta Masters students.
